Founded in 1985, The Cultural Conservancy is a Native-led nonprofit based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with offices on unceded Ohlone land and a land base in the sovereign territories of the Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo peoples. The organization works in deep partnership with Indigenous communities across Turtle Island and Abya Yala (the Americas) and Moananuiākea (the Pacific).
The Cultural Conservancy seeks a Chief Executive Officer to lead with vision, humility, and strength. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer works in close collaboration with staff and partners to advance the organization’s mission, uphold its values, and guide strategy and operations. The organization is looking for a leader who can inspire trust, support Indigenous communities and land protectors, and build the organizational systems needed to sustain and grow impact.
The ideal candidate brings a commitment to Indigenous self-determination and a leadership style grounded in relational accountability. They will shape a shared vision for the future—one that reflects the voices of the people and places The Cultural Conservancy serves—while building a culture of integrity, care, and excellence across the organization.
