The San Francisco Estuary Institute welcomes Emily Corwin as its next Executive Director. Emily has served as SFEI's Interim Executive Director since the start of the year, succeeding Warner Chabot, who retired after more than eleven years leading the organization.

Emily brings over two decades of experience in environmental science, civil and water resources engineering, organizational leadership, and nonprofit management. Her career has centered on advancing nature-based solutions, green stormwater infrastructure, and climate resilience across the Bay Area. She previously served as Director of Nature-Based Engineering Solutions at Conservation International and as a Senior Environmental Engineer at the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District.

Emily joined SFEI in 2024 as Director of Strategic Initiatives. During her tenure, she increased year-end giving, improved donor retention, built operational reserves, and produced the organization's first Annual Impact Report. In her short time as Interim Executive Director, she has earned the trust of staff, board members, and partners across the region.

Emily's commitment to the Bay, its ecosystems, and the communities it sustains now carries into her permanent role. She will build on SFEI's foundation of rigorous, trusted science while strengthening the resources and resilience the organization needs to continue that work for decades to come.
