Olmsted Parks Conservancy has selected Mary Grissom as its new President and CEO. Mary brings 20 years of experience in philanthropy, public policy, and community engagement and holds a lifelong affinity for Louisville's Olmsted parks. She will lead the organization’s mission to restore, enhance and forever protect Louisville’s Olmsted-designed parks and parkways, connecting nature and neighborhood while strengthening the community’s well-being. As a nonprofit partner to Louisville Parks and Recreation, Olmsted Parks Conservancy raises private funds to match city investment, activates the parks with community events and enhances biodiversity in natural areas.
Mary’s past roles include Vice President of Community Investments at the Community Foundation of Louisville (2018-2024), where she developed and led the Invest Louisville initiative to increase local philanthropic investment in Louisville, KY. Before that, she served as Vice President of Community Engagement at Metro United Way (2010-2018). where she spearheaded community engagement, public policy advocacy, and volunteer efforts in support of childcare and early childhood education in Kentucky. Earlier in her career, Mary served as Chief of Staff in the Boston City Council (2006-2010), where she oversaw policy, press, and constituent relations for a city-wide elected official.
Mary Grissom's impressive track record in leadership, strategic partnerships, fundraising, and community relationship building has prepared her well to serve as CEO of Olmsted Parks Conservancy. She is passionate about supporting thriving communities and the crucial role of parks in personal, civic, and environmental health. She is eager to connect people and parks and is honored to be trusted to champion and steward Louisville's treasured Olmsted park system.
