Kyle steps into the executive director role after more than 20 years leading environmental and outdoor nonprofits focused on reducing the barriers between youth and nature, especially for communities often missing this connection. Rooted in the Bay Area, he is a respected nonprofit leader and outdoor industry professional. He is excited to join OBCA to expand on his passion to connect young people to their birthright—the magic and transformative power of nature.
Kyle is the founder of Bay Area Wilderness Training and Outdoors Empowered Network, which provide leadership training and free access to outdoor gear. He has co-created pathways to getting more people into the outdoors, such as Camping in the Presidio, which has served over 33,000 participants to date. Most recently, Kyle served as the Senior Manager of Operations at the Sempervirens Fund, working to protect California’s majestic redwood forests.
