California Council of Land Trusts (CCLT) is pleased to announce Caroline Godkin as its new Executive Director. Caroline will lead CCLT in advancing its mission to empower over 70 land trusts across California in their conservation efforts. She began her role in December 2024, bringing a fresh perspective to address the critical challenges of climate change and land conservation statewide.

Caroline joins CCLT with extensive experience in policy, leadership, and nonprofit management. She most recently served as the inaugural Executive Director of the Climate and Wildfire Institute and has held gubernatorial appointments at the California Environmental Protection Agency, the California Natural Resources Agency, and CAL FIRE. With her unique blend of government and nonprofit expertise coupled with her passion for California’s natural resources, she is well positioned to guide CCLT’s work supporting its member organizations.

As Executive Director, Caroline will expand CCLT’s capacity-building programs, foster collaboration across diverse communities, and lead critical policy initiatives to strengthen and safeguard land conservation. CCLT looks forward to Caroline’s vision, leadership, and commitment as she steers the organization toward a thriving future for California’s lands and waters.
